The members of the DSMA are jointly committed to the: 

• Comprehensive and continuous implementation of all national and international guidelines (mining codes) and environmental requirements for future deep-sea mining projects at the highest level.
• Responsible development of sustainable and innovative technologies for the entire deep-sea mining value chain.
• Preparation and execution of component tests extending to pilot mining tests in deep-sea mining.
• Preparation and implementation of commercial deep-sea mining projects
• Promotion of deep-sea mining as a global reference for the development of sustainable and efficient technologies.
• Development of hardware for deep sea mining such as environmentally friendly manganese nodule collectors, seabed milling machines, conveying systems (risers), zero-waste processing and smelting technologies as well as continous environmental monitoring and control systems for the mining system.
• Establishing the highest international standards to shape the regulatory framework of financial responsibility for deep-sea mining projects.
• Initiation of commercial deep-sea mining projects operated by German, European and/or global consortia.
• Increased public relations and media diaogue to inform the media actively and efficiently.
