Core requirements
DSMA's core requirements are:
  • Binding international test regulations:                                                                                              
       A test phase is generally regarded as an entrance ticket to deep-sea mining. There is an urgent
       need for guidelines for 
       (a) the testing of mining machinery as components of the overall mining system
       (b) the conduct of a pre-pilot mining test (PPMT) and/or a pilot mining test (PMT).
  • An important, monitoring role for leading international classification societies.
       Leading international classification societies with their extensive wealth of experience in various marine and                 offshore applications should play an important role in the funding regulations, including the definition of 
       standards and quality control, as well as the monitoring of future commercial activities.
